PET PASSPORT

You need to have a passport for your pet if you want to take it outside the UK, to prove that it has been protected from illnesses and parasites, and will not bring anything back to these shores.

Your pet will need to be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies three weeks before the pet passport is valid, though further requirements can vary depending on where you are visiting.

However, if you do not make sure that your pet is covered, they may be placed in quarantine when you return to the UK.

Not only that, but your pet could be at risk to threats that they have not been exposed to in the UK, which could make them very unwell, or could even prove fatal.

Requirements may change dependent on Brexit, and you can get up to date guidance on the official government information page.

We recommend that you talk to your vet here at Caerphilly to make sure that you are fully compliant with the regulations before heading off.

Get in touch and we’ll be glad to help you ensure you can travel with peace of mind!
