About

North Road, Holsworthy is the equivalent of Penbode Vets' Head Office. It was first used as a veterinary practice in 1880 by William Penhale when he moved here from Upcott Farmhouse in Cookbury. In 1949 Richard’s son Allin graduated as a vet and joined the firm. By 1955 the Practice had six vets working for it from Holsworthy and Stratton. In 1976 the name of the Practice was changed to ‘Penhale and Partners’ and in 1981 the Practice opened its ‘Large Animal’ hospital dedicated to Mr Allin Penhale. In 2010 Penbode purchased the house which became Penbode Equine Vets Holsworthy. We also purchased the house adjacent to the main building in North Road, Holsworthy which has now been extensively refurbished and extended and opened as Penbode Pet Vets Holsworthy, with two consulting rooms, x-ray room, theatre and dental treatment area, as well as separate dog and cat kennels. The upper floors of the house itself are used to accommodate student vets who spend weeks seeing practice with us during the Spring and Summer months. The main building is also used as the farm branch where over a dozen farm vets meet to discuss clients and cases and to collect their car stock. On the first and second floors you'll find our accounts, HR, marketing, Health & Safety and other admin staff along with the farm laboratory.
