Camelford

The Practice expanded again in 1999, when it purchased 34 Market Place, Camelford. The Penbode Camelford branch cared for small animals mainly, although it was not unknown for the incumbent vet to vaccinate the odd horse or tend to a pig or two! From 2003 when Nick Carter joined, it became a small animal practice. In September 2015 Penbode took on the mixed practice JJ Holt just up the road at Inns Park. Attached to the large Edwardian house was the veterinary surgery, consisting of kennels, operating theatre, consulting rooms and access to the garden. This was demolished in 2017 to make way for the light and airy state of the art surgery boasting three consulting rooms, extensive prep-room, two theatres, x-ray room, isolation ward, dog and cat wards and a dedicated grooming room. Upstairs you can find the vets' and nurses' office, laboratory and staff room. Unlike the original 34 Market Street building, the new surgery has ample parking at the front and the back. The building was officially opened in the summer of 2018 by Jackie Lorraine in memory of her late husband Iain who was MD of Penbode.
